Hospice Cup chooses 2013 Art


Annapolis, MD–Hospice Cup XXXII – America’s largest charity regatta will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay.An Artist Reception was held at The Circle Gallery in Annapolis on January 24, 2013. There were 19 entries this year, including three from youth under 15 years old (two of those from students at Central Middle School). Community members selected Ms. Sterner’s painting, Pipe Race. The painting can be viewed at www.hospicecup.org.


When Shannon found out about the Hospice Cup poster competition, she knew she had to enter. The Hospice Cup is such a necessary and wonderful cause, so Sterner decided what she was going to paint and after a few days, she had finished. Shannon won, and is so excited for the Hospice Cup Shore Party after the race where Hospice Cup will raise additional funds at the auction, which will include her painting! Limited addition posters of her artwork will also be for sale.

Shannon Sterner has been an art teacher for 5 years and an artist her entire life. Sterner is from Cape May, NJ; but now calls Annapolis home. Sterner is a graduate of The University of the Arts in Philadelphia.She majored in Illustration and refined her watercolor painting skills. Sterner has exhibited her paintings in several galleries in Annapolis. In addition to her watercolor painting skills, she takes great pride in producing handmade greeting cards, which are sold in many stores in downtown Annapolis.
