30 years ago, those who love the waters of the Chesapeake sought a way to unite their world of boating with a growing new phenomenon: hospice care. These lovers of boats and hospice care founded a sailing regatta in Annapolis, Hospice Cup, to raise awareness and funds to fill the sails of this new “lifeboat” for families. Supporters of Capital Hospice were the first to step up. Since that time, thanks to be generosity of these sailors, Capital Hospice has embraced thousands of families in their days, weeks and months of need.

Caring Beyond Curing
Many people think of Hospice as care for people who have terminal cancer. However, our services are designed for anyone who desires a helping hand to meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs near the end of life. Annually, Chester River Home Care & Hospice provides extensive care and supports for 100+ hospice patients who are facing terminal illness or the end stages of a chronic disease such as dementia, ALS, Parkinson’s and heart and pulmonary diseases. In addition, bereavement and support programs are provided to 300+ hospice family members and friends annually, without charge. We are the primary provider of Medicare-licensed hospice services in Kent and northern Queen Anne’s Counties on the Eastern Shore of MD. This year, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary of non-for-profit hospice services in our community.
